Annual DMC Festival 2016 (Hallyu Festival) Opens Next Month

The yearly celebrated DMC Festival or "Hallyu Festival" will open next month in Seoul that will feature dozens of popular Korean pop singers and Korean pop groups.

According to the event organizers, the DMC festival 2016 will be hosted by the South Korean broadcaster MBC channel. It will take place on October 1 to 11 at the Sangam Culture Plaza and MBC headquarters located at Sangam-dong, western part of Seoul.

"Hallyu" or Korean Wave which means "Flow of Korea" pertains to the popularity of Korean pop music, films, and TV dramas as a global phenomenon. The so-called Hallyu Wave has emerged around the world due to South Korea's growing popularity in terms of language, culture, and tradition. YouTube is one of the platform where Korean wave started to gain popularity as well as in social media sites. The use of different mediums and platforms in promoting, distributing, and consuming different forms of Korean entertainment industry led to the rise of "Hallyu" or Korean Wave.

DMC Festival or Hallyu Festival was launched in 2015. It is known as the largest "hallyu" festival in South Korea that combines radio broadcasting and television programs. It consists of different award shows, exhibitions, showcase performances of Asian rookie musicians, and K-pop concerts.

According to some sources, several K-pop groups and artists will participate on the said event. This year's lineup of K-pop groups that will perform at the festival include Girls' Generation, Dynamic Duo, EXID, INFINITE, Sistar, Red Velvet, DJ DOC,  SHINee, EXO, BTS, Apink, TWICE, No Brain, YB, Kim Jong-seo and Boohwal.  

Moreover, the Korean Wave shows the worldwide influence of South Korean culture all over the world including the K-pop look, K-pop Fashion, K-drama, Kpop-idol, K-food and many things about South Korea.

Furthermore, K-pop fans are already excited for the event on October and the organizers encourage them to go at the free opening concert and live broadcasting at the MBC's Sangam Culture Plaza that will conduct major singing competition entitled "King of Masked Singer," "I'm a Singer," and "ToToGa."
