Son Yeon-jae Performs With Rio Olympics Champion at Local Show

South Korean Rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae will perform together with the world's top gymnasts including the Rio Olympics gold medalist at a local rhythmic gymnastics gala show next week.

According to Galaxia SM, the Russian who won the individual all-round title at the Rio Games, Margarita Mamun together with Son, will perform at an event entitled "Rhythmic All Stars 2016." On September 16 and 17, the event will be held at Goyang Gymnasium in Goyang, northern part of Seoul.

The world's rank No. 3 rhythmic gymnast, Alexandra Soldatova of Russia will also participate in the program and showcase her skills in gymnastics. Meanwhile, Belarusian gymnasts Melitina Staniouta and Katsiaryna Halkina together with Kseniya Moustafaeva of France will also be present at the event according to the Galaxia SM.

Son Yeon-jae is a South Korean individual rhythmic gymnast and a member of the South Korean national gymnastics team located in Taereung, Seoul. She is the 2014 Asian Games All-around Champion. She is also the all-around bronze medalist in the 2010 Asian Games. Moreover, she won three-times in the Asian Championships All-around Champion in the years 2013, 2015, and 2016.

At the recently ended Rio Olympic Games, Son finished fourth place in the individual all-around final with a total of 72.898 points from her clubs, hoop, ribbon and ball programs. Staniouta got the fifth place with 71.133 points, while Halkina was at sixth place with 70.932 points and Moustafaeva finished in 10th place.

Soldatova failed to compete at the Rio Games due to the rules that a country can only field a maximum of two gymnasts in the all-around competition. Russia was represented by Mamun and Yana Kudryavtseva, who got the silver medal.

Furthermore, the Italian rhythmic gymnastics team who finished fourth place in the group all-around final at the Rio Games will also be participating in the event at Goyang according to Galaxia SM.
