"Ajin" Season 2 coming back on October 7

A specific date for the premiere of the second season of the computer generated anime adaptation of Gamon Sakurai's "Ajin" manga has finally been announced, with the new season set to premiere just two weeks after the release of the third installment in the in the film trilogy.

The announcement was made on the official "Ajin" website, as translated and reported by the Anime News Network. The anime's second season will premiere its first episode on Oct. 7 for MBS and TBS, with an airing on BS-TBs following on Oct. 8.

Just like with the first season and the film trilogy, "Ajin" season 2 will also be animated by POLYGON PICTURES. As both the anime series' first season and the film trilogy featured the same staff working on them, the second season also has a strong possibility of keeping the same memebrs.

All of the films in the trilogy; "Ajin Part 1: Shodo," "Ajin Part 2: Shototsu," and "Ajin Part 3: Shogeki;" as well as the first season were directed by Hiroyuki Seshita. Naoya Tanaka acted as producer, with the main writing handled by Hiroshi Seko. Prolific anime soundtrack composer Yugo Kanno worked on the series' music.

Speaking of music, "Ajin" season 2 will have a difference for its opening theme song. Japanese pop band angela and trance duo fripSide will be replacing Flumpool in working on the season's opening theme song.

"Ajin" is the animated adaptation of Gamon Sakurai's "Ajin: Demi-Human" seinen manga series. It tells the story Kei Nagai, a young boy just trying to live a simple life on the way to his dream of becoming a doctor. That is, until he finds out one day, after accidentally getting run over, that he is one of the mythical Ajin; immortal people who come back from the dead and heal miraculously even the gravest of injuries. Unfortunately for Kei, the Ajin are considered by society to be dangerous inhuman creatures meant for apprehending at best and perfect human testing guinea pigs at worst meant to be used for unethical weapons and drug testing due to their immortality.

And so begins Kei's life on the run, as he struggles to find a quiet place to live out his days in peace. Unfortunately, he keeps getting sucked back into the conspiracy between government entities and a rebellious band of Ajin set to destroy the society that has only given them pain for simply being what they are.

Catch the continuation of Kei's story when "Ajin" season 2 premieres on Oct. 7.
