Reuters reported that Pop sensation Selena Gomez announced on Tuesday that she was going to take a break from work to seek treatment for lupus disease which has been exacerbating her panic attacks and depression.

The 24 year old star issued the statement to the shock and surprise of fans because she is currently in the middle of a hectic Revival World Tour.

"I've discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges. I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best." Gomez said.

This is not the first time the singer has cancelled her schedule due to her lupus. She backed out of her "Stars Dance" tour back in 2014 when she was first diagnosed with lupus.

The Lupus Foundation of America said Lupus is an autoimmune disease that brings damage to any part of the body affecting some 1.5 million Americans.

Gomez has not yet given a specific date when her hiatus will begin. Her management team also hasn't given any statement about the status of her Revival World Tour which still has shows to run in Europe and South America, through the end of 2016.
