CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 will have flying vehicles?

CD PRojekt Red has posted as series of job openings for the development team that will work on the studio's next game, "Cyberpunk 2077," with some of the postings revealing a few interesting tidbits of information that players can expect when the long awaited game finally releases.

Now that the production of post-release content for "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt," the third title in CD Projekt Red's video game adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's bestselling "Hexer" novel series, is over with the studio having no plans to go back to the franchise soon, and the game of the year edition just coming out, the studio's next project will be the long awaited "Cyberpunk 2077."

To begin developing for "Cyberpunk 2077," CD Projekt Red has apparently issued some new job postings on its website. Though job listings are not really all that strange, some of them have apparently revealed some interesting information about "Cyberpunk 2077," specifically that it will feature full blown futuristic vehicles.

CG Mag Online reported the news, with the image advertisement for the listings provided by All Games Delta. The job listings include at least three positions for openings that relate to vehicular gameplay; a Vehicle Artist, a Senior Vehicle, and a Vehicle Gameplay Programmer.

This very strongly suggests that "Cyberpunk 2077" will actually feature vehicular gameplay, possibly even flying ones depending on how much the actual game will adhere to the elements originally presented in its teaser trailer released in 2013.

Both Daily Responsibilities for the Vehicle Artist and its Senior version state that applicants will model "all kinds of complex futuristic vehicles and robots," suggesting that the game will also feature mechanized creatures likely as a "brute" type of enemies or maybe even ones that can be piloted/worn.

For the Required Skills section, one of the more interesting inclusions was the "love and passion for cars, motorbikes and military vehicles." From the teaser trailer, one can already tell that "Cyberpunk 2077" will presumably have the player fighting against heavily armed troops of various military capacities; and whenever a military is present in a title that is even remotely futuristic, they almost always carry the shiniest weapons and the biggest vehicles that range from tanks to fully armed gunships.

If flying vehicles are indeed going to be featured in "Cyberpunk 2077," then it will be an interesting step for CD Projekt Red in its approach to the wide-open sandbox setting. While "The Witcher" series" boasted a very large open world that players could ride through on horseback, the exploration was still mostly horizontal with ground movement that fit with the fantasy setting; with "Cyberpunk 2077" and it's cyberpunk futuristic setting however, players can expect a skyline of tall buildings that they might be able to fly through.
