BIGBANG’s G-Dragon Donates Birthday Money to UN Refugee Agency

BIGBANG member G-Dragon donated his birthday money to the United Nations Refugee Agency last August 18th, which is his birthday.

G-Dragon celebrated his 28th birthday through extending his charitable gesture to the United Nations Refugee Agency. According to a report, G-Dragon gave 81.8 million won to the agency. Moreover, YG Entertainment confirmed in a stamen that the artist wanted to help the refugees who run away from their homes and also to create awareness about the cause.

G-Dragon's real name is Kwon Ji-yong. He is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter, record producer, and fashion icon. At the age of 11, he signed to YG Entertainment and, a few years later, joined the popular group Big Bang, for which he wrote and produced a significant amount of material.

In 2013, he won Artist of the Year at the 15th Mnet Asian Music Awards. He also earned the World's Best Entertainer and World's Best Album awards at the 2014 World Music Awards.

After the birthday of G-Dragon, YG Entertainment collaborated with the UNICEF's new campaign entitled "Celebrate and Give" for the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Korean boy group "BIGBANG".

Furthermore, a sold-out concert of BIGBANG at the Seoul World Cup Stadium last August 20 is worth of a celebration for the members including the leader, G-Dragon.

"We prepared the exhibition as well as the concert and tried lots of different things this time. Since we had so many overseas activities, we worried a lot that we wouldn't be popular in Korea. But looking at everyone here today, we're still popular," G-dragon said after their concert at Seoul World Cup Stadium.

Following their concert, BIGBANG plan to hold fan meetings in other places, such as Macau and Taiwan and will also be the first K-pop group to hold a fan meeting in Hawaii.
