Gamers who prefer the Windows 7 operating system may now rejoice as Remedy Entertainment's action-adventure speculative fiction third person shooter "Quantum Break" will soon no longer be an exclusive to the Windows 10 for the PC.

Reports indicate that the part time bending video game, part television show will finally be made available to the Windows 7 operating system on the PC platform, whereas it used to solely be for the Windows 10 when the game first release.

The increased availability for the game is thanks to Valve picking the title up for distribution through the company's Steam platform, setting the release date for the Steam version on September 14.

As the game was published by Microsoft, "Quantum Break" was made available for both of the Redmond tech giant's main video gaming platforms, the Xbox One and the PC, with the game set to be part of the company's "Xbox Play Anywhere" system.

Unfortunately for some PC players, the Windows Store version of the game required machines to be running on the Windows 10 operating system; a move that alienated those who prefer the much older Windows 7 operating system.

With the game's release on Steam, the operating system requirement is now set to change. The system requirements section on the "Quantum Break" page on Steam lists the Windows 7 as the minimum required operating system to run the game. Still, only those running the 64-bit version of the OS may actually play "Quantum Break."

As one of Microsoft's heavily marketed AAA titles for 2016, this recent turn of events suggests that Microsoft's "Xbox Play Anywhere" initiative might extend to more than the company's Windows Store for the PC. What this means is that whereas it was believed unlikely for Microsoft to release the PC versions of their games outside of the Windows Store, the company may actually be willing be less restrictive in their distribution methods.

As for the game itself, "Quantum Break" is a third person shooter with temporal manipulation elements. The speculative fiction story tells the story of Jack Joyce as he gains the ability to control time after an accident with a time machine, the same accident that lead to beginnings of the degradation of the fabric of reality.

The game boasts a star-studded cast of actors, with the characters in-game modeled after how their actors look in real life. The feature is due to the live-action series parts of the game, which is shown in conjunction with playing through the game's chapters. Jack Joyce is played by and modelled after Shawn Ashmore, best known for playing Bobby Drake/Iceman in the original "X-Men" films. Aside from Ashmore, the cast list includes Dominic Monaghan, Courtney Hope, Lance Reddick, and Aidan Gillen.

Catch "Quantum Break" on the Windows 7 when the Steam version releases on September 14.
