Study Shows Korean Women Rank 3rd in Longest Life Expectancy
A report from the World Health Organization revealed that Korean women have the third longest life expectancy rate. Korean women's' life expectancy is 85.48 years, just behind Spain with 85.5 years and Japan, topping the list, with 86.8 years.
The years for Korean women have increased since 2012 when they only ranked seventh. The life expectancy for Korean men is 78.8 years. This was the largest gap between men and women from the top ten countries with the longest life expectancy rates.
A report from the Chosun Ilbo suggests that Korean men are 1.6 more likely to die from cancer compared to Korean women. Korean men are 2.8 times as likely to die from traffic related accidents than Korean women.
Furthermore, Korean men were more likely to smoke or drink alcohol to release their stress instead of exercise. But Korean women would often exercise to keep their shape. These factors ultimately lead to longer lives.
