YG Entertainment K-pop boy band WINNER at a fan signing last month in Daejeon, South Korea.

WINNER will perform at Gwangju Kim Daejoong Convention Center in South Korea on Saturday, one of only three concerts the five-man K-pop boy band has planned for the next month in order to shoot their upcoming television series "Half-Moon Friends."

"WINNER, who prepared for this project for the last six months, will commit themselves to full shooting and have emptied their schedules for the next five weeks," a spokesman for the band said in a March 11 press release from the K-pop boy band's record label YG Entertainment.

"Although they will be permanent members of the variety show, it is common for shooting to take place for one to two days every week. Since WINNER also promotes overseas, it was difficult to empty their schedules for five weeks straight. However, because 'Half-Moon Friends' is not a simple appearance but a collaboration production with [South Korean cable network JTBC] WINNER will be living with cameras every day during the five weeks.

It has been over two years since the members of WINNER have appeared on television together.

The group was formed in 2014 as a result of being the winning team on the reality TV program "WIN: Who Is Next?" The brainchild of YG Entertainment co-founder Yang Hyun Suk, the show pitted two teams of aspiring artists against each other for the chance to become the label's next boy band according to viewer voting. The losing group was to be disbanded, but ended up being reformed as iKON the following year after enduring another reality show, "Mix & Match."

According to YG, the group's latest series will feature the WINNER members in what they are calling a "dream-like nursery."

"'Half-moon Friends' will contain the interactions between an idol group that have gone through many years of training and children who are used to being alone due to both of their parents working," the synopsis reads.

"The show will display how they will become friends in happy and heartfelt ways. This program will show WINNER'S sincere and humane sides that they weren't able to show onstage."
