North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong Un delivered a striking speech during the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Workers' Party on Saturday. The young leader says North Korea is ready to face any war conducted by the United States, Channel News Asia reported on Sunday.

"Iron spirit and the united forces of our army and people have enabled us to break through the imperialists' sanctions and isolation, are forcing the enemies to extreme anxiety and fear," Kim says during his speech.

"The party's revolutionary armament means we are ready to fight any kind of war waged by the US imperialists."

Meanwhile, although the White House refused to comment on the claims of the North Korean supreme leader, a spokesman from Pentagon asks Pyongyang to refrain from dropping threats that could threaten regional peace and safety, as noted by CNBC on the same day.

"We are in close contact with our Republic of Korea allies and remain committed to the defense of the ROK," says Commander Bill Urban.

"Recent provocative statements heighten tensions, and we call on Pyongyang to refrain from actions and rhetoric that threaten regional peace and security," he adds.

On the other hand, reports reveal that the preparations for the founding anniversary of the ruling Workers' Party started in February. During the event, thousands of troops march in formation after the supreme leader delivered his speech.

Tanks, armoured vehicles, drones and several kinds of missiles owned by North Korea were displayed during the celebration.

Kim emphasizes his government's role in developing the lives of North Koreans during his speech. Analysts say that Kim was trying to promote his reputation with his speech, however, members of the public accepted the supreme leader's message with enthusiasm.

"I often see the great leader's appearance on television, but today, I see him directly. I almost cried and couldn't see very clearly because of the tears and I'm very proud of my great leader," one member says. "When I saw the weapons of the military, I feel our country is strong country so I'm not afraid of other things."
