Emma Watson: 'I'm Taking A Year Away From Acting'; 'Harry Potter' Actress To Focus On Feminism, Personal Tasks

Emma Watson has long garnered her A-list Hollywood status and that is thanks to her character Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" film series. However, the "Beauty and the Beast" lead actress have revealed her plans for the future and said she is leaving acting for a whole year to pursue a more reasonable calling such as feminism and her personal concerns.

According to a report, the UN Ambassadress will be taking one year off from her acting career to pursue better things for herself and learn more about gender equality.

"I'm taking a year away from acting to focus on two things, really. My own personal development is one... My own personal task is to read a book a week, and also to read a book a month as part of my book club. I'm doing a huge amount of reading and study just on my own," Watson revealed.

"I almost thought about going and doing a year of gender studies, then I realized that I was learning so much by being on the ground and just speaking with people and doing my reading. That I was learning so much on my own. I actually wanted to keep on the path that I'm on. I'm reading a lot this year, and I want to do a lot of listening," she further added.

Watson, as reported earlier has defended feminism through her campaign entitled HeForShe which calls on men to advocate equality among genders.

"I'm on my journey with this and it might change, but I can tell you that what is really liberating and empowering me through being involved in feminism is that for me the biggest liberation has been that so much of the self-critiquing is gone," Watson said.

Watson even added that she hopes all women can gain self-love same as she has found through feminism.

"I guess if I could give women anything through feminism... it would just be, to be able to move away, to move through all of that. I see so many women struggling with issues of self-esteem," Watson said.

While some has still negative things to say about Emma Watson's pursuit of gender equality, there are still many who have been impressed to hear the 25-year-old actress' plans and genuine interest in learning more about feminism.
