VP Carlos Panay unveils the all-new Surface Book

Finally, after 40 years of constantly developing worldwide-popular computer software Windows, Microsoft announces their first-ever laptop - the Microsoft Surface Book, which is said to be the most exciting Windows laptop in years and could possibly serve as a nightmare for every PC manufacturer, Wired reports.

The all-new Microsoft Surface Book comes with a 13.5-inch display with a pixel density of 267PPI, which is said to be optically bonded to the glass. The laptop is built in a machined magnesium body - and despite its similarities with the Macbook, it managed to look exclusively different from the latter.

The company added that the Microsoft Surface Book is built for someone who wants to experience both a bigger screen feature commonly found in tablet PCs and at the same time "the perfect typing experience" found in laptops. The top-of-the-line PC includes a backlit keyboard and deeper keys, with 1.6mm of travel. It also includes a glass trackpad with five points of touch sensitivity.

As expected, Microsoft's first ever laptop is set to work with their very own Surface Pen stylus, as the company wants it to be used as a "digital clipboard" by its potential buyers. After all, the Microsoft Surface Book is indeed a very powerful tablet that runs on desktop Windows according to The Verge.

For the specs, it has the latest Intel Core i5 and i7 processors from the Skylake family. There's also an Nvidia GeForce GPU added with GDDR5 memory, though it is located in the base so users need to keep the display docked to tap into its power. Two USB 3.0 ports and an SD card slot are also added in its features.

When it comes to battery power, the laptop is set to keep running for 12 hours on a single charge. Microsoft claims that this is the "fastest 13-inch laptop ever made anywhere on any planet," saying that its performance capability will actually be twice as fast as the MacBook Pro.

The Microsoft Surface Book will go on sale Oct. 26 starting at $1,499. Pre-orders are now available starting today.
