New 'Jason Bourne 5' Trailer Released; Matt Damon Appears As Jeremy Renner Booted Out Of Film?
The new "Jason Bourne 5" trailer has been released, much to the excitement of the fans of its original star, Matt Damon. The actor appeared in the preview of the much-awaited fifth installment after the lead in its preceding film, Jeremy Renner, was reportedly booted out of the series.
According to a report from The Verge, the "Jason Bourne 5" trailer premiered just after the first quarter of Super Bowl 50. It highlighted the return of both its lead star Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass.
The clip showed a ripped Matt Damon, car crash sequences and attention-grabbing lines such as "why would he come back now?" and "I remember everything."
Fans took to social media to comment on the "Jason Bourne 5" trailer, with many comparing it to the franchise's fourth film, Jeremy Renner's "Bourne Legacy."
"This should make up for that rather dire, forgettable, fourth Bourne movie," one commenter wrote.
"Really excited for this!" another fan posted. "I absolutely love the previous Bourne films... but the Jeremy Renner one sucked. A shame too because Renner's a great actor."
Some emphasized that "Bourne Legacy" did not fare too well because it had a different director. Now that Paul Greengrass is back, fans are hoping that the filmmaker would revive the series with his return.
"It strayed too far from a winning formula," one fan commented. "Now that Greengrass is back in the director's chair, I'm hoping the charm and magic of the first three will be there."
With many looking forward to Matt Damon's comeback, "Bourne Legacy" lead Jeremy Renner has yet to comment about not being part of the movie. According to an earlier report from Screenrant, the "Avengers" cast member previously admitted that he wants to come back and work with Matt Damon.
"I love that world," he said about the Bourne series. "I love the character."
"If they want to do that, I'm in. There's no 'no' coming from this direction," Jeremy Renner expressed.
