'Voltron' Live-Action Movie To Premiere In 2016? Netflix, DreamWorks Confirm Production Of TV Series
After three decades of misfires, failed attempt and plain, dust-collecting, the major comeback of "Voltron" series in live-action is finally coming true, all thanks to DreamWorks and Netflix.
Netflix already expanded a deal with DreamWorks Animation throughout the year. This deal gives them the rights to the current original series for kids.
"It's with great pleasure that we expand on an already successful relationship with DreamWorks Animation to bring more premium kids and family television to Netflix members globally,"said Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Series for Netflix.
Holland added that families around the world already enjoy the great storytelling that DreamWorks used.
"We are proud to work closely with Netflix to continue delivering high-quality programming to audiences around the world,"said Ann Daly, President of DreamWorks Animation.
Furthermore, starting 2016, Netflix will launch new several series and reimagining one of the 80s animated television series "Voltron" is already on its way for debut this year.
"Voltron" is from a Japan original series entitled "Beast King GoLion" and it was combined with another Japanese anime series "Armored Fleet Dairugger XV" to sell in the United States.
"Voltron," or most commonly known as "Voltron: Defender of the Universe," features a team of astronauts that pilots or controls the giant super robot known as "Voltron".The massive robot is formed out from five separate vehicles combination.
Aside from the "Voltron" Live Action TV series, "Trollhunters" which is a fantasy series from the award-winning director Guillermo del Toro will be launched this same year.
Unfortunately, it will not include a "Voltron" movie, as according to reports there has been no mentioning of that topic yet aside from the live action TV series.
Though the live-action movie is not yet confirmed by both Netlix and DreamWorks, at least "Voltron" series fans can be assured that it will be made available as a TV series within the year.
