JTBC's entertainment television program "Hidden Singer" comes back for its fourth season on Saturday. The Korean show features competitions between singers and their impersonators "to see who can pass as real," Korea Joongang Daily reported on Thursday.

"Hidden Singer" aired its pilot episode on December 21, 2012, where they featured singer Lena Park. Chief producer Jo Seung Wuk says "many singers and many impersonators actively took part in the recordings" despite prevailing concerns questioning whether the new season could be as strong as the prior seasons.

"Viewers will be surprised that there are still so many stories," Jo adds.

He goes on saying that the show will feature different singers and impersonators every episode for the new season. Jo also reveals that the stories of these singers and impersonators will describe what each episode is trying to convey.

Jo also adds that the production staff has decided to "go back to basics" for the fourth season.

""Hidden Singer" is where a singer becomes a real singer," he says.

"We kept true to the original intention of the show, yet are dedicated to each episode as if it were our last."

The chief producer also reveals that they were uncertain whether the show will come back for another season.

"We weren't sure that we could come back this year, but thanks to the support of those who waited for Season 4 to come back, we were able to be ready by October," Jo says, as noted by Korea Herald on the same day.

"Our theme for this season is that this is 'where singers become true singers.' Artists get to meet the fans that support them and emulate their singing. They get energized, to become even better singers."

For its fourth season, the show will feature some singers they have been keeping an eye for since season one, including South Korean singer BoA.

"We had a number of timing issues, but this year BoA released her 15th anniversary album and held a concert, which created a nice backdrop for making her the first in our Season 4 lineup," Jo says.

"There are so many women from their teens to their thirties who thought of BoA as a role model in pursuing music, or in practicing their singing. She's the original Hallyu star. You'd think that as a female singer she'd have more male fans, but BoA has a very large female fan base. We had a lot of applicants, and we found the top five," he adds.

The fourth season of "Hidden Singer" will air on October 3 at 11:00 PM on JTBC.
