'The Man In The High Castle' Season 2 To Explore Countries Outisde Of Greater Nazi Reich During Release Date

After surprisingly high ratings, Amazon has renewed their original series "Man in the High Castle" for season 2 and speculations about the sequel's release date are already making rounds on the internet.

The first season, which premiered on Nov. 20, 2015, on Amazon Prime Instant Video, is set in an alternate timeline where Japan and Germany won World War II. 

The story follows a San Francisco resident (Alexa Davalos) who comes into possession of a film reel depicting the Allied powers as victors of the war, which inspires ideas of a revolution.

Now, series showrunner Frank Spotnitz has released details about season 2.

"There are glimpses of what's going on with the rest of the planet in the first season," Spotnitz said in an interview with Den of Geek. "There are so many issues to explore and it is science fiction so the reason to tell the story is to reflect back on the world we live in right now."

In a separate interview with Variety, Spotnitz confirmed that season 2 will introduce other countries to the series when its release date arrives.

"In season one, by design, you don't know much about what's happening outside of North America," Spotnitz said. "But other countries start to creep in, and you start to get a sense of the larger geopolitical landscape. And then you'll see a lot more of that in season two."

"The Man in the High Castle" is based on a Philip K. Dick novel of the same name. The alternate history drama aired in January 2015 and spanned 10 episodes. 

Amazon hasn't announced an exact release date for season 2 but it was rumored to be made available this year. 

However, sources speculate that it might be delayed until 2017 due to the show's heavy CGI work.
