The latest news update on "Transformers 5" reveals that filming will reportedly begin in May this year. Michael Bay will be returning at the helm, while lead actor Mark Wahlberg will reprise the role of Cade Yeager.

The filming date was revealed online by "My Entertainment World," a site that provides information about upcoming movies.

The news report, however, did not reveal the filming location for "Transformers 5" but Bay previously revealed that Chicago would be among the production locations.

In an interview with WGN Radio's Dean Richards, Bay replied "no" when asked if he will be coming back to Michigan Avenue for his next "Transformers" installment.

"I love Chicago. We'll come in with some Transformers to even it out," stated Bay, as reported by International Business Times.

The script of "Transformers 5" is being written by a group of ace Hollywood writers, with Akiva Goldsman heading the project. Goldsman previously mentioned that the writers will work on the mythology of transformers through the Hasbro toys and comic books.

With filming to kick off in three months' time, "Transformers" fans are expecting a power-packed special effects sequel with Optimus Prime and his team of Autobots on a mission to find the Creators.

Many viewers thought "Transformers: Age of Extinction" would be the final movie after it was slammed by critics as the worst intallment in the franchise.

However, the negative comments did little to quell fans' reception to the film as "Transformers: Age of Extinction" was one of the big releases of 2014. Because of the success, the decision to make "Transformers 5" was made, according to Screen Rant.

The news updates on "Transformers 5," however, are silent as to the details on the film's plot but it may involve the Knights of Cybertron first mentioned in "Transformers: Age of Extinction," reported Comic Book.
