Emma Watson's Feminist Book Club; Karlie Kloss As Latest Member
Emma Watson, the "Harry Potter" actress, United Nations Ambassadress and a vocal feminism promoter now launched her first online Feminist Book Club.
The goodwill ambassadress for UN Women and figurehead of the gender equality campaign HeforShe tweeted that she wanted to start a book club and has requested suggestions for its name.
“There is so much amazing stuff out there. “Funny, inspiring, sad, thought-provoking, empowering! I’ve been discovering so much that, at times, I’ve felt like my head was about to explode," Watson said.
That is the reason why she decided to start a Feminist book club, as according to her, she wanted to share what she is learning and eager to hear others' thoughts, too.
After different replies and names suggested such as “Wats Up Fems”, Watson Your Shelf and “Hermione’s Army”, the Harry Potter actress choose “Our Shared Shelf” by Twitter user @emilyfabb.
Twitter users have been enthusiastically responding with Watson’s idea. Even retired American footballer Abby Wambach, actress Sophia Bush, and singer Kate Voegele have all supported Watson by sending a tweet that they would take part in the club.
The latest addition to Watson's Online Book Club is none other than the famous model Karlie Kloss.
She posted on her official Instagram account a photo reading the first book to be read by the online book club's members with a caption: Hey @emmawatson, about that book club... Count me in!
Currently, Emma Watson's Feminist Book Club has more than 70,000 active Twitter followers and 99,498 members on Goodreads.
