La Liga powerhouse club Real Madrid was recently in the news after the organization finalized a deal with sports manufacturer Adidas for a record breaking $1 billion.

Real Madrid is known for some of the most expensive transfers in football history. In fact, the club holds the record of five of the most costly player acquisitions ever.

Real Madrid acquired Cristiano Ronaldo for more than $110 million in 2009, Gareth Bale for more than $120 million in 2013 and James Rodriguez for more than $80 million in 2014.

Several La Liga news alleged that Real Madrid's pockets are bleeding following these recent history transfers. Now, the club is replenishing its finances by agreeing to a deal with Adidas.

Some sports analysts said that the deal is actually worth more than $1 billion, with some estimates closer to $1.1 billion. If this is true, the deal is about 25 percent more than what Manchester United received when it agreed to a deal with Adidas back in 2015.

Manchester United and Adidas agreed on a sponsorship deal worth more than $750 million.

In a statement acquired by Sky Sports, Adidas chief executive Herbert Hainer said, "This special club has not only a rich history but also a reputation for success. Business with Manchester United is going very well. We have sold more shirts than expected. We are satisfied, even if the current playing style in not exactly what we want to see."

Some La Liga related news claim that the sponsorship contract with Real Madrid is believed to be around $106 million per season. This figure is more than the combined deal with Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.

According to The Telegraph, Real Madrid's previous deal with Adidas is due to expire in 2020. However, the La Liga club managed to secure a massive contract with the sports apparel manufacturer four years in advance.
