"Show Me The Money" will hold auditions in the United States for the fifth season of the South Korean rap competition series. Cable channel Mnet announced Wednesday that the show will be accepting international contenders for the first time since it started in 2012, Yonhap News Agency noted Wednesday.

The cable channel announced: "From Feb. 1 to Mar. 6 we are openly recruiting for any rappers who wish to participate" adding that "anyone can audition for the preliminary round of "Show Me the Money 5.""

"This year, we plan on expanding globally by not only holding preliminaries in South Korea, but also in the U.S., magnifying the scale of the show," Mnet said in a dispatch, as noted by Soompi Wednesday.

Mnet revealed that more and more rappers from other countries have expressed their desire to join the competition.

"With the upcoming season of "Show Me the Money" just around the corner, more and more foreign rappers have approached us with the intention of joining," it said.

"We wanted to extend this opportunity to all the rappers living aboard, allowing us to find a more diverse range of talented rappers, as well as introduce them to the public. You can expect a more fierce battle between these gifted rappers."

"Show Me The Money" season one was won by Loco, who is now under AOMG, a record label led by Jay Park and Simon D. For its second season, Soul Dive topped the rap competition, while the third installment was won by Bobby of South Korean boy band iKON.

Some 7,000 contestants auditioned to join the show's fourth season last year. The show featured Jinusean, Tablo, San E, Verbal Jint, Jay Park, Loco, Zico and Paloalto as judges. Basick was declared the winner of "Show Me The Money" season four.

Reports revealed that those who wish to join the rap competition can submit their application through the official website of "Show Me The Money." Another option is to upload a rap video and post it on Instagram.
