Bon Jovi Taipei Concert Cancelled As Typhoon Dujuan Arrives On Monday
A brewing storm is giving the Bon Jovi Taipei concert a bad name as the iconic American rock band have to cancel the first of their two shows in Taiwan, Focus Taiwan reports.
Dujuan, which has been predicted by weather forecasters as a super typhoon, is expected to make a landfall on Monday night - the same time of the now cancelled Bon Jovi Taipei concert. Heavy rainfall has been predicted to occur in areas of Northen, Eastern and Central Taiwan.
Local promoter Live Nation Taiwan announced the cancellation on Sunday evening; however the scheduled show on Tuesday will proceed at the Taipei World Nangang Exhibition Hall. Fans who bought tickets for the Monday show can either exchange it for the Tuesday ticket or get a refund.
With the previous cancellation of their supposed to be first ever concert in China, this could mean that this is not a great Asian tour for Bon Jovi. Five years ago, sources have found out that the band used the image of the Dalai Lama as a backdrop on stage.
Aside from Bon Jovi, other international acts such as Bjork and Maroon 5 have their shows in China cancelled, with a member of the latter previously greeted the Dalai Lama a happy birthday via Twitter according to a report from BBC.
For the Bon Jovi Taipei concert, the band arrived on Sunday evening at Taipei Songshan Airport and received a warm welcome from fans. The members in return signed autographs for them. Tonight, it seems that they are more likely to ride out the storm with their Taiwanese fans as reported by Vintage Vinyl News.
The band - composed of members Jon Bon Jovi on vocals/rhythm guitar, David Bryan on keyboards and Tico Torres on drums - already visited Taiwan in 1993 and 1995. This year's visit marks their third time in the Asian country.
