'Pirates Of The Caribbean 5' News: Sequel Signals The End Of Franchise? Depp Wants 'To End On A High Note'

The latest in "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" news claims that the upcoming sequel will be the last film in Disney's swashbuckling fantasy series.

While it is said that the fifth movie will set itself apart from the previous installments, it may also be the last time we'll see Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow.

According to Christian Post, filming for "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" has been difficult for Depp. Not only did the "Transendence" star postpone the fifth film's production due to personal issues, he also delayed the movie's release date due to a hand surgery.

However, the 52-year-old is determined to make next film unique.

"Everyone involved wants the script to be right and perfect," the actor said in an interview with Inquirer. "So we have gone on to do other things (in the meantime). We are still going to do the film together. I enjoy them immensely. They are super talented. They have a great sense of humor. I think they have a really fun approach to what we are going to do with the next 'Pirates.'"

"Very happily and proudly, I have welcomed taking part in the story and working directly with the screenwriter (Jeff Nathanson)-he and I," Depp told the publication. "It's working out really well that way."

Depp, of course, isn't taking the news of the franchise's end lightly. Apparently, the actor is setting the bar high on his potential swansong.

"So I have high hopes for that 'Pirates 5' because if that's really the last one, which it probably is, I feel that we owe it to the audience who went and saw the films so many times," he added. "We'll do it right and end it on a high note."

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" releases in theaters on July 7, 2017.
