Is Peter Capaldi Leaving 'Doctor Who' Season 10? Showrunner Says ‘He Is Going Nowhere’

Fans have been incessantly raving on how good lead actor Peter Capaldi is in the popular TV series "Doctor Who" and they could not be more ecstatic about the upcoming show's season 10.

However, there is a dilemma that every fanboy or fangirl faces as they intrepidly stay tuned to the "Doctor Who" series, that is the announcement that Peter Capaldi is set to leave the show on season 10.

It was reported by Cult Box that Peter Capaldi said "this could be my final year," as he referred to his last run on the show "Doctor Who."

In an interview with Telegraph, the renowned actor said that he wanted to "do other things," despite the titular role he was playing in the show, Nerdist added.

"It's terrifying," the acclaimed actor said in the interview. "I love 'Doctor Who' but it can be quite an insular world and I do want to do other things. There will come a time when this is over."

"But I knew that when I started. I was thinking about my regeneration scene from the outset. That's my terrible melancholic nature. When you accept the job you know there will come a day, inevitably, when you'll be saying goodbye."

Peter Capaldi further added in the interview that he is currently recuperating from a knee operation (similar to that of Matt Smith who starred in the series as well) that was caused by the constant running the actor had to do in the "Doctor Who" episodes.

"It's the same operation Matt Smith had!" Capaldi elaborated. "I took him for lunch the first time I met him and he was on crutches."

"I said, 'What's happened to you?' He said, 'This f-- show, mate!' I never believed him - and now I've got exactly the same injury. You tend to twist your knee when you're being chased by a monster and then you swivel around to present yourself to the camera. It's the curse of the Doctor."

However, there seems to be a faint light at the end of the tunnel for fans who are hoping for the actor to remain in the show, as it was reported that Steven Moffat said that the actor is "going nowhere."

"Peter Capaldi is going nowhere," the showrunner said as reported by Cultbox.
