‘The Muppets’ Reboot News: Why Is It The New ‘Must-See’ Show On TV?
The more mature version of "The Muppets" reboot invites both adults and kids into a world unlike it's ever seen before. This version should be the finished product that comes about from Paul Lee's announcement of a more adult Muppets show.
In a New York Times article, Lee described the mature Muppets version as:
"This is not your grandmother's Muppets" - suggested a misunderstanding of what makes the Muppets special. "They were never your grandmother's - nor your parents', nor your kids'. They belonged to all of us, always. "The Muppet Show" from the 1970s was kid-friendly but also a grown-up showbiz sendup, slapstick and sophisticated, anarchic and droll."
Not everybody had the same opinion on "The Muppets" reboot.
Slate.com reported Rebecca Traister dissed the concept of the new "Muppets" show the previous week by pitching the following headline to the viewers:
"The Muppets should not be having sex, people."
"Please stop talking, writing, and otherwise promoting the upcoming Muppets television reboot by alluding to them actually f***"
