UFC 197: Conor McGregor-Rafael Dos Anjos Fight Is On! Expect The Trash Talk To Commence
The Conor McGregor-Rafael Dos Anjos fight has gotten the green light from the UFC. Even before the fight was made official, the two fighters already engaged each other in a trash talk which makes their Octagon meeting more interesting.
The Irish fighter is believed to be the underdog since he is is climbing up in the weight division. From a resounding victory against featherweight great Jose Aldo, he moved up in ranks to lightweight division by battling Dos Anjos who recently pummelled Donald Cerrone.
Conor McGregor does not feel like anything like underdog, however. In fact, in his latest post, he promises a demolition job.
"Mr. McGregor has chosen to dedicate this demolition job to the loyal people of Brazil and all the fans around the globe who stay true to their roots and loyal to their land," the 27-year-old wrote on his Facebook account adding that the victory against his next opponent will be dedicated to all Brazilians.
"Mr. McGregor has said that Rafael is a traitor to his people and vows to behead the 'American Gringo' Rafael dos Anjos, in the name of La Brasilia!"
His coach John Kavanagh also described the Conor McGregor-Rafael Dos Anjos UFC fight a "warm up" and a victory will further cement the trash-talking Irish warrior's legacy.
"I've said from the beginning that welterweight may not be out of the question," said Kavanagh according to The 42. "One of Conor's main sparring partners, Gunnar Nelson, is a welterweight, so Conor is very used to that feel. I would not be at all surprised if we're preparing to go for a third belt a year from now."
Previously, trainer Rafael Cordeiro said the Conor McGregor-Rafael Dos Anjos UFC fight will be on-sided.
"Rafael is really happy to 'welcome' him in a brutal way to the lightweight division," said Rafael Cordeiro, Dos Anjos's trainer, according to report by Sherdog.
He also added that McGregor is someone they can truly beat since he is from lower division and that Dos Anjos will not change his fighting style.
The Conor McGregor-Rafael Dos Anjos fight will headline UFC 197 which will be held on March 5 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
