Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge To See A February Release Date? To Feature 5.1 Screen, 64 GB Memory?
For smart phone users, the release date of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and its higher Galaxy S7 Edge variant is shaping up to be among the highly-anticipated events of 2016.
And for good reason, as the mobile device, which is rumored to be rolled out in late February or early March of this year, could be both dust proof and waterproof, according to the Independent.
The online news portal denied speculations that the features of the phone were a "hoax," citing journalist and tech insider Evan Bass who said that the Galaxy S7 series will be built based on the IP67 standard.
IP67 is an industry ranking system which determines the 'ingress protection' levels of electronic equipment.
"The IP67 rating would mean the phone will be 'totally protected against dust' and 'protected against the effect of immersion between 15cm and 1m,'" the Independent report said.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, whose release date is expected to be announced a week before the Mobile World Congress (WEC) on Feb. 21, will reportedly include a micro-SD slot, bigger 3,000 (S7) and 3,600mAh (S7 Edge) batteries, and a 12.2 MP camera.
The Independent foresees that the phone's design won't be a major departure from its predecessor, which has been widely praised by industry critics for its high-end look and feel.
According to Gotta Be Mobile, recent leaks suggest that the Galaxy S7 Edge will also feature 5.1-inch screen, a new 8-core Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage.
The online tech portal also raised the possibility that there could also be four Samsung Galaxy S7 models released and not three, as earlier suggested.
And if these current leaks are accurate, there is a chance that two more Galaxy S7 Plus and Edge Plus variants equipped with 5.7 or 6-inch screens will likely be rolled out.
Do you think that Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 release date will be sooner than expected?
