It is starting to be a great year for Real Madrid fans as they witness head coach Zinedine Zidane lead the team to a spectacular 5-0 victory and secure a formidable position in the La Liga 2015-216 standings.

It was reported that Real Madrid's impressive La Liga 2015-2016 standing was firmly cemented after the team defeated Deportivo La Coruna 5-0 in the Spanish league on Saturday, Sports Illustrated reported.

The source pointed out that Zidane received a heart-warming welcome at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, which was a different atmosphere compared to when former coach Rafa Benitez was in charge of the team.

"The fans were behind the team from the first minute until the end," head coach Zinedine Zidane said in an interview. "It was a great atmosphere. But we have to understand that this was only the first game, we have to keep winning. The goal is to keep playing well and keep winning games."

Recent updates revealed that the La Liga 2016 standing places Real Madrid moving within two points of Barcelona, which recently obliterated Granada 4-0 courtesy of football superstar Lionel Messi's hat trick.

One point behind Barcelona is third-place contenders Atletico Madrid, which can regain the lead if it wins in its upcoming match against the fifth-place Celta Vigo on Sunday, Bleacher Report pointed out.

The head coach of Barcelona, Luis Enrique, also had a few comments to say regarding the impressive performance the team has done so far and its current La Liga 2016 standing.

"I'm very satisfied with how the team played today," Enrique said according to Sportsnet. "Everybody was focused from the beginning. The players knew how important it was to win these three points."

As reported, Barcelona was in full control against Granada, which sits poorly in 17th place in the La Liga 2016 standing.

"We could have scored more," Barcelona defender Aleix Vidal said. "But the main thing was to get the three points. We are back in the lead, now we'll see what happens in the other matches."
