RESCENE Holds No. 1 on Instiz Chart as BIGBANG, I.O.I Follow
RESCENE's "LOVE ATTACK" is still No. 1. This week, on the Instiz chart that aggregates Korea's major music platforms, it's sharing the podium with two groups whose combined age gap runs nearly two decades.
RESCENE, BIGBANG and I.O.I took the top three spots on this week's Instiz chart, the same order they hold on Melon's own weekly ranking. "LOVE ATTACK" has now led Melon's Top 100 for eight straight weeks since its release, according to Melon's chart data. BIGBANG's "BiiiG" sits at No. 2, up from No. 6 two weeks earlier. I.O.I's "Suddenly," a pre-release single from their May comeback EP "I.O.I: Loop," holds No. 3. CORTIS's "REDRED" follows at No. 4, with RESCENE's earlier single "Pretty Girl" and aespa's "LEMONADE" rounding out the top six.
BIGBANG's climb has a specific origin point. When "BiiiG" dropped, it set a record for the fastest first-hour user count among 2026 releases on Melon's Top 100 and hit the platform's "roof kick" - the highest measured real-time listening share - nine separate times in a single day, according to allkpop's chart reporting at the time. Two weeks later, with the song still gaining ground on Melon, the timing lines up with BIGBANG's first U.S. shows in nine years, played September 4 and 5 at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, and the tour's next stop at MetLife Stadium on September 11.
I.O.I's staying power is the quieter story here. "Suddenly" came out in May, more than three months before this week's chart. A pre-release single from a reunion project holding a top-three spot that long isn't typical - most comeback tracks drop out of the weekly rankings within a month, chart data across 2026 releases shows.
RESCENE, meanwhile, isn't a reunion act. The five-member group debuted under The Muze Entertainment in 2024 and doesn't carry the built-in name recognition BIGBANG and I.O.I do. Eight weeks at No. 1 for a group two years into its career, run alongside two 2000s-era names, is the more unusual half of this week's chart.
The pattern has a rough U.S. parallel in the country charts, where a newly reissued Fleetwood Mac record can still out-stream a debut single in the same week. In K-pop, where comeback cycles usually run in days rather than months, three acts holding their positions this long at once is the less common outcome.
RESCENE has not ceded the top spot since "LOVE ATTACK" first reached No. 1 in July. Whether "BiiiG" climbs past No. 2 depends on what BIGBANG does next, with Paris and London stops still ahead on the "XX: COSMOS" tour this month.
