P Nation confirmed on July 1 that Heize's exclusive contract with the label ended on June 30, closing a six-year partnership with the agency founded by Psy. No announcement of her next label has been made. She enters free agency for the first time since August 2020.

The split was described as mutual. "After extensive discussions, P Nation and Heize mutually agreed to conclude the exclusive contract while sincerely wishing each other the very best in our future endeavors," the agency said in a statement. P Nation's current roster includes Hwasa of Mamamoo, Crush, TNX, and Baby Don't Cry.

Heize arrived at P Nation already established. Throughout the 2010s, tracks including "Star," "Don't Know You," and "You, Clouds, Rain" had placed her among the more consistent voices in the indie-adjacent lane of Korean pop - the singer-songwriter type that doesn't always fit comfortably inside the idol system. Her P Nation tenure produced the EP "Happen" in 2021, which earned a Digital Song Bonsang at the Golden Disc Awards, followed by "Round and Round," "A Chance Encounter," and "Lips." None of the releases broke new commercial ground, and the label relationship ended without a major recent release to anchor the departure to.

What came next moved faster than most exits allow. On July 2 - the day after P Nation's announcement - CHUU released a digital single called "RULE," featuring Heize. The track pairs CHUU's vocals with Heize's delivery across a rhythmic indie pop arrangement with string accents. The collaboration had been in progress before the contract expiration, making Heize's first confirmed credit as a free agent a collaboration rather than a solo move, and one released under someone else's project rather than her own.

The juxtaposition is either incidental timing or a deliberate soft landing - a way to remain visible while the next agency decision is made without the pressure of a full solo comeback. Heize has not commented publicly on her departure or her plans.

Heize is the third prominent K-pop artist to exit a major label this year without an immediate replacement announced. ENHYPEN's Heeseung and NCT's Mark Lee both departed their respective labels in the spring, with Heeseung subsequently signing with a smaller independent agency and Mark moving to the US to develop his solo career. The pattern reflects a broader shift in how established artists - particularly those who built their identity outside the group idol model - are navigating the end of long-term label agreements.

P Nation has not announced a replacement signing.
