Netflix Ignoring 'The Legend Of Korra?' Streaming Media Decides To Revive 'Voltron'
Fans of the widely popular "The Legend of Korra" animated series got disappointed when Netflix recently announced that it is reviving another well beloved classic animated series, "Voltron."
Netflix said that in order to produce "Voltron," the company has partnered up with DreamWorks Animation, with the latter doing all the animation work, according to Slash Film.
Fans of the classic animated series were happy that Netflix has finally pulled the project out of the arduous development phase. Fans also believe that with Netflix and DreamWorks working on the project, "Voltron" will redeem its long lost popularity.
Despite the positive vibe brought upon by the renewal of "Voltron," there are a handful of Netflix devotees that are not quite happy with the news. Some analysts believe that with Netflix backing the "Voltron" project, the company is ignoring some of its most sought-after brand and its audience.
Among the Netflix brand in concern are "The Legend of Korra" along with the entire "Avatar: The Last Airbender" franchise.
Netflix has made its name by picking up shows that have dedicated fanbase, knowing that no matter what platform their contents are released, the fans are sure to follow.
Monumental to this kind of marketing strategy is when Netflix acquired the rights to stream "Arrested Development," "The Legend of Korra" and "The Last Airbender."
Experts believe that "The Last Airbender" and "The Legend of Korra" perfectly fit the audience of Netflix. Both the shows already have a considerable amount of online contents which can trigger binge-watching episodes, rather than waiting on a weekly basis for new contents, according to Forbes.
While "Voltron" is an accepted classic in the world of animated shows, some analysts are somewhat skeptical whether the show will make a connection in today's audience. On the other hand, "The Last Airbender" and "The Legend of Korra" already have a dedicated fanbase excited for new contents and episodes of their well-beloved series.
