Jay-Z Super Bowl 2027 Halftime Show: Date, Venue, Details
Jay-Z will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show on Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, TMZ reported Monday night after the NFL and the rapper confirmed it. He has never headlined the show. Since 2019, his company, Roc Nation, has chosen who does.
The NFL announced the booking in a post with the hashtags #AppleMusicHalftime and #SBLXI, which TMZ embedded. Jay-Z released a statement that began, "Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world's biggest stage."
How it got here
Puck's Dave Brooks reported Oct. 20 that Jay-Z had picked himself after weeks of weighing options, and that he might announce it at his SoFi Stadium shows that weekend. The confirmation came Monday instead.
Other names had circulated. TMZ reported Sept. 15 that Justin Bieber and Harry Styles were considered but were not interested, and Miley Cyrus was rumored to be next before Jay-Z took the slot himself.
Roc Nation signed its NFL partnership in 2019, reportedly worth $5 million a year, and renewed it in 2024, according to Puck. The deal made Jay-Z the league's live music entertainment strategist, a role tied to its social justice initiative after the Colin Kaepernick protests. Last year's halftime headliner was Kendrick Lamar. This year's was Bad Bunny, on Feb. 8 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.
Jay-Z is 56. This year Reasonable Doubt turned 30 and The Blueprint turned 25, Complex noted. Last month, Puck reported, he reunited the Fugees at two sold-out shows at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
What is not announced
No setlist, guests or production details have been released. TMZ reported no word on whether Beyoncé will appear. She headlined the Super Bowl halftime show in 2013 and returned as a guest during Coldplay's set in 2016, the Daily Beast noted.
The game is Sunday, Feb. 14, Valentine's Day.
