South Korean financial outlet Edaily reported Monday that BTS member Suga invested in SpaceX through Link Asset Partners, a Seoul-based venture capital firm and the first Korean institutional investor in the company, at some point before 2022. The report cited unnamed investment banking industry sources. Neither Suga nor HYBE has confirmed the investment. A HYBE official told Edaily: "It is difficult to confirm matters related to an artist's personal affairs."

The investment amount was not disclosed. Based on SpaceX's valuation trajectory, the potential return is significant. The company was valued at roughly $46 billion in 2020 and around $100 billion in 2021. On June 12, SpaceX debuted on the Nasdaq at $135 per share with a market capitalization of approximately $1.77 trillion - the largest IPO in US history by market cap at launch. An industry source quoted by Edaily said Suga "still holds SpaceX shares and has recorded an overwhelming rate of return." The Korea Times, citing the same report, estimated a conservative return of around 20 times the initial investment for a 2022 entry point, rising to approximately 40 times for a 2020 entry.

Those figures are estimates, not confirmed gains. The report rests on anonymous sourcing, and the investment has not been independently verified. What is confirmed: SpaceX's IPO price, its current market capitalization, and Link Asset Partners' status as an early Korean institutional backer of the company.

For K-pop observers, the more notable detail may be the asset class. Other BTS members - Jungkook, J-Hope, and Jin - have been publicly linked primarily to domestic South Korean real estate investments. A pre-IPO position in a US deep-tech company through a venture capital vehicle is a different kind of bet, and a considerably earlier one.

Suga, whose real name is Min Yoongi, returned from mandatory South Korean military service in February 2025 and has since rejoined BTS for the Arirang World Tour. His solo discography as Agust D includes the 2023 album "D-Day," which was supported by a world tour. He has over 160 songwriting credits registered with the Korea Music Copyright Association.

The Edaily report has not been followed by official confirmation from any party named in it. It is a report about a report, and should be read as such.
