'Thundercats' Live-Action Movie Happening Because Of James McAvoy? 'X-Men' Star Wants To Play Lion-O
A lot of fans around the world share the same sentiments that they have with actor James McAvoy about a "Thundercats" live-action movie being made.
Rumors and speculations about a "Thundercats" movie and the potential cast that came with it spurred a lot of interest having James McAvoy portray the leading character, Lion-O.
"I would love to see a Thundercats movie but it's never going to happen," the "X-Men" actor said in an interview. "Lion-O is something great for any actor out there."
Although it may be disheartening for fans that having a "Thundercats" live-action movie might not be plausible, hopes are still up as actor Eddie Redmayne, who starred as Stephen Hawking in the movie "The Theory of Everything," similarly expressed his interest.
In an interview, he had concerning his interest in portraying Bananaman.
"Please, I'm desperate to do Bananaman," the actor said as reported by Yahoo! News.
"Bananaman is this great guy who eats a banana, and he becomes Bananaman. He's the one that I've always wanted to play, to the extent that Andrew Garfield - an old pal - was asked in an interview, 'If you could play any superhero other than Spider-Man, who would you play?' And he was thinking about it, and the interviewer was like, 'Bananaman?' And Andrew was like, 'No, Eddie's playing that.'"
Also, Redmayne expressed his interest in playing the character Snarf in "Thundercats," according to the Franchise Herald.
"I'd like to play Snarf," he added.
In addition to James McAvoy and Eddie Redmayne expressing their interest in the project, it was also noted that award-winning video game director Jerry O'Flaherty is already in negotiations with Warner Bros. in order for him to direct the "Thundercats" live-action movie, although no official announcement has been made regarding the said project being confirmed, Franchise Herald added.
"It feels like a natural thing for me to step into," O'Faherty explained in a report by Variety. "Games have come so far now. The last four years of my life have been about bringing the energy of filmmaking into the videogame experience."
