Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Make Waves At The Detroit Auto Show; Next-gen Minivan Unveiled!
At the North American International Auto show in Detroit, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles displayed its largest ever (of 60,000 square feet)! The company's next generation minivan, one of the most important vehicles set to debut this year, unveiled!
Senior manager of government affairs, Leven Weiss said It's the largest they've ever had, and joked that they have a ton of LED lights so if there's a big drain the city with power, the event will explain it, Cited Windsor Star.
The Fiat Chrysler automobiles' Next generation Minivan is expected to be one of the 750 new vehicles exhibited at the show and is predicted to draw more than 800,000 patrons over a nine-day period.
The Detroit auto show, one of the hallmark shows of the world typically has many new introductions and quite often many concept vehicles are given a preview of future models.
"It's the highest volume player in that segment, and the new minivan from Chrysler is promising a whole lot of innovations that will attempt to keep the segment relevant", Ed Kim, vice president of industry analysis consultancy Auto Pacific said, cited THE BLADE.
Chrysler automobile actually invented the minivan segment way back in the 1980s and has remained a leader since then. But the current Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge caravan duo are old. The last update received was in 2008 and the sales of the two vans plunged by 30 percent last year.
There haven't been any details about the new van but it is expected to be a Chrysler-brand-only vehicle that could get a new name. A plug-in hybrid version is also expected that could get up to 75 miles per gallon. Experts believe that the new minivan is important as Fiat Chrysler tries to redefine its brand as a strong, mainline competitor.
The yet-to-be-named vehicle, according to experts, must take what customers love about their minivan- interior space, functionality and entertainment options to an advanced level to retain its old customers and attract newer ones.
According to fans, the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' all-new minivan including a plug-in hybrid electric model is likely to enter a segment that has changed quite a bit since its debut in the segment 30 years ago.
