Caitlyn Jenner Joins 'Orange Is The New Black' As Natasha Lyonne a.k.a. Nicky Exits?
"Orange Is The New Black's" Season 3 wrapped up about six months ago. And while fans anticipate the premiere of the Netflix series' 4th season, word on the rumor mill is that Caitlyn Jenner is joining the cast while Natasha Lyonne, who plays the role of former druggie, Nicky Nichols, is not returning.
Rumors of Lyonne's departure started when the "OITNB" cast members appeared in a holiday greeting video entitled "Twas a Night in Litchfield."
In the video, almost every major character appeared except for Nicky (Natasha Lyonne).
Season 3 of the series left fans wondering whether or not Nicky will return for Season 4 after being sent off to the SHU for selling heroin to guard Luschek (Matt Peters), who threw her under the bus after his drugs stash was found by Caputo (Nick Sandow).
To fuel the rumors, Natasha Lyonne's name was also removed from the opening credits after appearing for only three episodes on Season 3, Melty reported.
"I certainly don't know what's in Jenji's mind, but I would love to move inside of Jenji's mind because it is a vast and endless landscape of imagination. So, who knows?" Lyonne said in an interview with TV Guide.
"And I could certainly see a million different avenues to go down," she added. "I mean, I love this show so much. I love everybody that I've gotten to work with. And I'm a big fan of the whole situation."
Meanwhile, another "Orange Is The New Black" cast shake up is allegedly underway. This time, unsupported reports claim Caitlyn Jenner is joining the ladies of Litchfield.
According to a previous report by OK! Magazine, the changed woman is being approached by the show's producers to play a character who will serve as Sophia's (Laverne Cox) new prison BFF.
"Laverne though Caitlyn's personal narrative would dovetail nicely with the story line of her character, Sophia, whose prison pals turned on her last season," the source alleged.
"It's the perfect time for Caitlyn to come in and help Sophia take a stand against the bullies," the insider added. "Plus, with Cait's popularity, she'd surely draw more viewers."
Neither Netflix, the show producers nor Caitlyn Jenner has confirmed the said rumors about her being in the "Orange is the New Black" cast.
