The huge crop of excellent actors and actresses who made their mark in films also made the nomination process a hard job for the Oscars crew.
Michael Fassbender ("Steve Jobs"), Eddie Redmayne ("The Danish Girl") , Matt Damon ("The Martian"), Johnny Depp ("Black Mass") and Will Smith ("Concussion") have all been mentioned as possible actors to get nominations this season.
Bustle also mentioned Bryan Cranston ("Trumbo") as another tough competition for DiCaprio.
In fact, the publication's Oscars 2016 predictions for Best Actor include Eddie Redmayne, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Fassbender and Bryan Cranston. The last spot is reportedly a wildcard entry, although Johnny Depp most likely would take the spot.
However, Indiewire and Bustle believe that this season might just be Leonardo DiCaprio's time to shine. With Academy Award-winning helmer Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's behind "The Revenant," he might just be able to finally bag the coveted award this Feb. 28.
Indiewire's Oscars 2016 predictions pegged DiCaprio as a sure nominee and likely winner. On the other hand, Bustle is still holding out on a possible surprise nomination or win with so many excellent actors who proved their talent in recent films.
