Despite the fact that the graduation rates are rising nationally, according to recent reports less that 40 percent of 12 graders are considered ready for math and reading at the college level.
Moreover, only one in five recent high school graduates met the minimum entry test standards to enlist in the army. A recent study from Achieve shows that only a few states required its 2014 graduating class to accomplish minimum preparatory measures for college.
Reports also revealed that various websites and other institutions have taken advantage of the standardized testing situation and created counterfeit diploma certificates.
According to the site underground review, various websites are creating fake high school diplomas using actual state designs. Others are using a realistic embossed gold foil seal and are selling them between $45 and $75 each.
"Some good reviews sent to me," reads the online writeup of the phony diploma service Nextdaydiplomas.com.
"Looks like they have a decent template and as long as it is not on their do not make list, they will do it."
