Rafael Nadal Shows Off Girlfriend Maria Francisca On Twitter, Starts New Year With Novak Djokovic
Rafael Nadal is a happy man! Having celebrated the New Years Eve with his girlfriend Maria Francisca, he went on to win his first game in Abu Dhabi. He also made sure to keep his rival Novak Djokovic under his radar by challenging him to a round of beach tennis!
The former world number one looked happier than ever ringing in 2016 with his family and girlfriend Maria Francisca on Twitter. He captioned the picture, "Celebrando con la familia! Celebrating with the family! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! #2016"
According to Sport Mole, "Rafael Nadal has begun the new year with a win, defeating Milos Raonic in straight sets at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi over the weekend."
But he didn't rest there. Rafael Nadal kept Novak Djokovic on his toes by dueling him at beach tennis... not quite in the training regimen but sure to get him a lot of Twitter followers!
According to Zee News, "World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and 14-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal on Sunday tried their hand at beach tennis. The Serb and the Spaniard were seen exchanging volleys on the beach in a video uploaded by Djokovic on social micro-blogging site Twitter."
Rafael Nadal is fighting to keep himself relevant in the tennis world. Right before 2015 ended, he did just so by separating himself from Roger Federer. With the support from his long term girlfriend Maria Francisca Perello, Rafael Nadal probably can take on anything in his career.
According to Mercury News, he said, ''I'm not Federer. I'm Rafael Nadal. He has his style, and I have my own style. I for sure try to improve many things during all my career and for sure I'm working hard to be a better player.''
Rafael Nadal has switched his focus from playing ranking catch up with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, but on his new tennis academy. Collaborating with his Uncle Tony, Rafael Nadal is looking at the tennis academy as a way to leaving a legacy on the Spain's tennis scene.
And seeing how his girlfriend Maria Francisca Perello is also based in his home country, this will make their relationship much easier to sustain.
