Hangzhou Greentown FC Head Coach Hong Myung Bo Wants To Develop Young Players Into Good Football Players, Good Human Beings

Hangzhou Greentown FC's new head coach Hong Myung Bo recognizes the challenges that await him as he takes on a new responsibility after he resgined as the head coach of South Korean national football last year.

In December, the South Korean coach signed a two-year contract with the professional Chinese football club, as reported by Korea Times Dec. 17. Hong said he is excited to coach a professional club for the first time.

"I am indeed worried about how I am going to fare because I've never coached a pro club and it will be all new to me," he said. "But because it's my first time, I am excited about it and I think I will bring a lot of passion to my job."

Hong said he will rely on his experience in dealing with difficulties along the new path he is taking.

"There will be difficulties along the way, but I will try to overcome them by drawing back on my experience. I will face new challenges head on," Hong told reporters, as noted by Yonhap News Agency Sunday.

"I don't know the players at Hangzhou all that well, but I will try to communicate with them the best I can to produce positive results. I want to develop our young players into good football players and also into good human beings, so that they can demonstrate professionalism on and off the field."

The 46-year-old coach seemed eager and aggressive as he said his main goal is to keep his new team in the first division for this year.

"We've been close to the relegation zone of late, and we have to stay away. Once I join the club, I will build concrete goals with the rest of the club," Hong said.

Hong was appointed as the head coach of the South Korean national football in 2013 and led the team in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. However, he resigned in 2014 after the team did not perform well at the World Cup.
