South Korean Actor Song Il Gook And Triplet Sons To Leave Variety Show ‘The Return Of Superman’
Speculations that Song Il Gook and his triplet sons, Daehan, Minguk, and Manse, will leave variety program "The Return of Superman" seemed to be true as the producers of the show announced on Tuesday that the four will no longer be part of the popular program.
According to the producers, the South Korean actor and his sons filmed their last episode for the entertainment show on Monday (December 21), as reported by Korea Times Tuesday.
"Song Il Gook and the boys filmed their last episode yesterday," the producers revealed. "Their last episode will be aired next February."
"We apologize for the confusion over the widespread rumors about his leaving. Please understand that we could not confirm whether they would leave or not, because we were discussing the exact timing."
Korea Joongang Daily reported Thursday that Song's triplets gained popularity after appearing on the variety show.
Over 200,000 copies of desk and wall calendars that feature Song's sons were sold during the previous year with around 2 billion won earnings which Song donated to charities.
Reports have revealed that the South Korean actor wanted to depart from "The Return of Superman" for his acting career.
Meanwhile, the producers of the show thanked the viewers for their support to Song and his sons.
"We'd like to thank the viewers who have given Song Il Gook and Daehan, Minguk, and Manse their love and affection," the producers said, as reported by Soompi Monday. "The crew of "The Return of Superman" were happy to watch over the growth of Daehan, Minguk, and Manse for the past year and a half."
They added, "Thank you to the viewers for letting us watch them grow with you. We have only words of thanks to the real "Superman," Song Il Gook, a man who has moved us many times [through the show]. We support actor Song Il Gook, who is taking part in wonderful [acting] roles."
