Sechs Kies Leader Eun Ji-won to Remarry After 13 Years

First-generation K-pop idol announces wedding plans with non-celebrity fiancée
Eun Ji-won, 47-year-old leader of pioneering K-pop group Sechs Kies, will remarry later this year after completing wedding photos with his non-celebrity fiancée, YG Entertainment confirmed on June 12.
"Eun Ji-won recently took his wedding photos, and he plans to hold a quiet ceremony with close family and friends within this year," the agency stated.
This marks Eun Ji-won's second marriage. He previously married in April 2010 but divorced in August 2012 due to personality differences. The earlier marriage was never legally registered due to nationality complications, leaving him technically single under Korean law.
In recent years, the entertainer has been candid about his desire to remarry, citing concerns about aging alone. On KBS 2TV's "Men Who Do Housework" in May, he said: "I should get married. Otherwise, I might die alone. When I collapse, someone needs to call 119 [emergency services] for me."
Last July, he reflected on how attending more funerals than weddings had changed his perspective: "These days, I go to more funerals than weddings. That makes me think more about marriage."
Eun Ji-won debuted as Sechs Kies leader on April 15, 1997, making him one of the first-generation K-pop idols who helped establish the modern idol industry. Beyond music, he became a beloved variety show personality, earning the nickname "Eun Choding" (Elementary Eun) for his childish persona on programs like "1 Night 2 Days" and "New Journey to the West."
The couple has built their relationship on mutual trust, with Eun Ji-won being particularly protective of his fiancée's privacy given her non-celebrity status. The wedding date has not been announced, but the ceremony will be held privately with close family and friends.
When asked about potential fatherhood on a recent YouTube appearance, Eun Ji-won said he would stop all broadcast activities to focus entirely on raising children, showing his commitment to family life.
