New Apocalyptic K-Drama Features Han Hyo-joo and Park Hyung-sik

"Happiness" is a post-apocalyptic city mystery set in the not-too-distant future and set in a socially stratified apartment. When a new infectious disease strikes, a high-rise apartment hosting a diverse group of people is sealed off, and the drama will show the terror, psychological war, and desperate fight for survival. The show would be a real horror drama in which characters in a confined room grow cynical of one another as their everyday lives crumble, and their pre-existing beliefs begin to sway.

Yoon Sae-bom, a military agent in the Seoul Police Special Operations Unit who is decisive and has a fast judgment, will be played by Han Hyo-joo. Yoon Sae-bom is the kind of person who can get something done as soon as she sets her mind to it.

Park Hyung-sik will star as Jung Yi-hyun, an insightful and trustworthy violent crimes detective, in his first drama following his discharge from the military. He is a surprising romantic, wanting to establish a sweet romance with Yoon Sae-bom, with whom he went to high school.

Producing director (PD) Ahn Gil-ho and writer Han Sang-woon, who collaborated on "Watcher," will take charge of the drama. PD Ahn Gil-ho has worked on a number of shows, such as "Record of Youth," "Memories of the Alhambra," and "Forest of Secrets," while "The Good Wife" was written by Han Sang-woon.

"With an apartment in which people with diverse identities and envy meet together as the backdrop, 'Happiness' would represent human greed and inequality between classes," the production team explained. "We will bring a unique form of entertainment with the most realistic horror that could be possible in this modern world where we sense the value of daily life."

Han Hyo-joo is known for her work in "Spring Waltz" and "W: Two Worlds Apart," while Park Hyung-sik debuted as a member of boy group ZE:A and recently acted in the Korean remake of the American Series, "Suits." Filming of "Happiness" begins this May 2021.
