Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Review: Firmware And Battery Boosts, Call Stability Fixes
Users can now download Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus updates, review previous issues, and see if their devices have improved, according to Gadgets 360. Samsung has finally rolled out an OTA firmware update on the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, right after the same update was released for the Galaxy Note 5.
The OTA firmware update for the Galaxy Note 5 mainly focused on improving battery life and call stability, so users of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus can expect the same on theirs. The update is about 140MB in size, and is already popping up as update notifications on several users in India.
The Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus have similar specifications and hardware under the hood, which is why both are getting similar OTA updates, according to Gadgets 360. What is missing, however, is the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow for both devices.
Samsung has not yet revealed any plans for the OS update, but there was a rumor that the Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus will be part of the first Samsung devices to get Marshmallow, as reported on another Gadgets 360 article.
Aside from battery usage optimization and call stability, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus updates will also get security enhancements, according to Sammobile. One of these updates prohibits users from downgrading to an earlier OS, after updating the firmware. This is due to changes in the security policy upon installing the OTA update.
The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is Samsung's flagship handset, integrating a touch-sensitive edge to a metal-and-glass body. It is a stunning phone to look at, with its curved screen edges that makes it stand out from a crowd of similar looking smartphones, according to Pocket Lint.
The design of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is a departure from what Samsung did in the previous years. Aside from the curved glass edge, it has ditched the removable battery for a sleeker metal design.
