World’s First Luxury Space Hotel Is Set To Open In 2027

by Kim Jam / Mar 05, 2021 03:45 AM EST

Orbital Assembly Corporation, a space construction company, revealed its ambitious project new details of building a hotel above Earth's atmosphere.

According to the company, six years from now, in 2027, the luxury space hotel tagged as Voyager Station will be launched, which might be the greatest desirable, fanciest travel experience of the decade to add to your bucket list.

Gateway Foundation first came up with the concept in 2012, and the Californian company later established OAC to realize its dream of building the first commercial hotel in space.

The company is preparing to commence construction of the hotel, Voyager Station, in the low Earth orbit in 2025 that could be functioning as early as 2027, reported the Daily Mail.

Called the "world's first luxury space hotel," Voyager Station will be able to accommodate up to 400 guests, allowing guests to soar miles above the Earth's surface and enjoy epic views of the cosmos.

Reports said that a stay in space would offer a low-gravity gymnasium and private spacewalks, but it won't come cheap. Orbital estimates that recreational space travelers will have to have a net worth of nearly $50 million.

The company was selling shares at $0.25 to raise at least $10,000 by April 1 to raise capital for its work,

According to its page on Netcapital, a crowdfunding investment platform for private companies, it has already met its maximum goal of $1 million.

The habitable space hotel has over 11,600 square meters with features like a cruise ship, including luxury villas, hotel suites, restaurants, bars, cinema, gym, Earth-viewing lounges, concert venues, and even a health spa with necessities including crew quarters, air, water and power provided.

"Simulated gravity will offer amenities like toilet facilities, showers, and beds that function similar to what you are used to on Earth," the company's website says.
