GOT7's Yugyeom Revealed Why He Chooses AOMG
GOT7 Yugyeom was officially announced as a new AOMG artist, a hip hop and R&B label lineup on Friday, February 19.
"We are here to announce that Yugyeom is officially signed with AOMG to take a new step. Please keep your eyes out on Yugyeom's various musical activities with AOMG," stated the company.
Yugyeom revealed in his first interview as an AOMG artist in the editorial for Elle magazine that the musical direction he wants coincides with the new label.
The GOT7 artist highlighted that he is eager to collaborate with the artist in the label and become an "all-rounder."
Yugyeom's band group GOT7 got their contract end on January 19 this year, and speculations aroused that each member will step new stage in their careers in 2021.
Meanwhile, GOT7 shared their first song titled "Encore" after leaving J.Y.P.; the track was co-written by member Jinyoung and released via Warner Music Korea.
AOMG said in a statement last week that they are excited to "take a new step together" with Kim Yugyeom.
The new AOMG artist clarifies that GOT7 has not yet disbanded. He said that the members had plenty of conversations and decided to venture into different companies and explore. He explains that the fellow dancer Monster Woo suggested that he join AOMG while having one of their freestyle jams.
"I have to show my own color, I think my focus on music has heightened," Yugyeom shares how he feels in his new label.
During the AOMG announcement of GOT7 Yugyeom in the company, the label released Yugyeom's dance video performance of "FRANCHISE" by Travis Scott featuring Young Thug M.I.A.
Yugyeom joins a roster of artists that includes Lee Hi, Simon Dominic, Gray, LOCO, Cha Cha Malone, E.L.O., Code Kunst, Woo Won Jae, Punchnello, and more in the AOMG label set up by Jay Park in 2013.
