Lee Chaerin, better known by her stage name CL, is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter, and a former member of 2NE1. Her agency, Very Cherry, delivered the sad news to her fans.

Team Very Cherry released a statement saying that CL's mother has died.

On February 10th, the agency of CL said that Hong Yoo Ra, aged 53, passed away because of a heart attack. She was living abroad at the time of her passing.

The funeral was said to occur quietly for three days from February 10th, while the burial would take place on February 12th. And since the current circumstances are difficult because of COVID-19, only family and close friends would be in attendance at the funeral. The agency ended the statement by requesting every fan to send messages of comfort and encouragement to CL.

Lee Chaerin was born in Seoul, South Korea. Growing up, she never truly fit in since she moved around a lot that, according to her, she felt alienated in her youth. She spent most of her childhood in Tsukuba and Tokyo, Japan. There she danced and styled herself like her idols Lil' Kim and Missy Elliott.

In May 2009, 2NE1 debuted with the single "Fire." Its members were CL, Park Bom, Dara, and Minzy. After more than five years, in 2016, they officially disbanded.

CL was last seen with the other 2NE1 members a few weeks ago, celebrating Minzy's 27th birthday. That was almost a year after they altogether celebrated their 11th debut anniversary in May 2020.

CL is slated to release her studio debut album "+ALPHA+" within the first half of this year. That is after she released her comeback single "+HWA+."

As CL goes through this challenging time in her life, fans are sending their love and condolences from all around the globe; may the deceased rest peacefully.
