EXO's D.O Finally Discharged From His Mandatory Military Service

January 25, 2021, marks the day EXO's D.O. finally ends his military service. Before this, the K-Pop artist was on his final leave at the end of December last year and was instructed to discharge without returning to the base camp.

The decision of unreturned discharge was due to COVID-19 prevention. Last December 28, SM Entertainment, D.O's management company, released a said discharge statement.

"Dio is on the last vacation before the campaign and will return to the military on January 25, following the instructions to discharge without returning to the unit to prevent the spread of Corona 19," the management stated.

He added, "There is no separate campaign due to the spread of Corona 19, and the military service will be finished quietly."

Netizens cannot get enough of this celebratory news and made the hashtag #우리경수_전역했디오 which reached more than 500,000 tweets. They showered him with greetings and expressed their happiness.

Do Gyeong-soo, better known as D.O, started his mandatory military service on July 1, 2019. He was assigned as a cook in the Air Defense Battalion of the Metropolitan Mechanized Infantry Division and played an active part in the military musical "Return." D.O also trended when he participated in the "I'm Proud" Challenge posted on the Military Manpower Administration's official SNS last November 2020.

Following the EXO's eldest member XIumin, D.O is the second among the nine members who completed their military stint. Two more group members are still enlisted in the military, the main vocalist Chen and leader Suho.

D.O debuted as part of one of Korea's leading idol groups, EXO, in 2012. He released numerous hit songs, including "Wolf and Beauty," "Growling," "Addiction," "Colmi Baby," "Cocobab," and "Love Shot." He also succeeded in his acting career as he appeared and starred in dramas such as "It's Okay, It's Love," "Hundred Days," the movie "Swing Kids," and the movie "With God."

Fans can look forward to D.O's upcoming project film entitled "The Moon," which will begin shooting in the first half of this year.
