Phuket, Thailand Selected To Host Miss Grand International 2021 Pageant This March
Phuket, an island in southern Thailand, will play host to the upcoming Miss Grand International pageant delayed because of the ongoing pandemic. Over 70 delegates have been competing in the pageant.
It has also been a tough and challenging time in the world of pageantry since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, causing pageant directors and organizers to postpone the pageants supposedly held in 2020. One of these is the upcoming Miss Grand International pageant.
This island in southern Thailand will host the pageant and its activities on March 27th.
Phuket is known for its pristine and majestic beaches, one of the best in the world. It is also where visitors and tourists can find 19th-century shophouses and Sino-Portuguese buildings. It takes about an hour to travel from the Thailand capital Bangkok to Phuket.
The official Instagram of the pageant has revealed the official line-up of activities that the ladies will participate in.
On March 1st, the contestants will arrive in Thailand. After which, they will go through COVID-19 safety and health procedures that include testing. There will be a welcome dinner, sightseeing and tours, activities, and rehearsals.
The swimsuit competition will be held separately on March 18th. Then, on March 25th, a preliminary competition will be held. The national costume competition will be held on March 24th. On March 27th, the final show will be conducted.
Pageant organizers also revealed on Instagram that the contestants would likewise engage in Thai food tasting. Interview and souvenir auctions will also be conducted.
Miss Grand International started in 2013, with the first winner hailing from Puerto Rico. Outgoing Miss Grand International 2019 Valentina Figuera from Venezuela will crown her successor this March.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only 49 delegates have been selected to represent their countries in the pageant.
