Alicia Keys Suprises ARMY With Piano Rendition Of BTS' 'Life Goes On'
It is not common for Hollywood singers and artists to honor K-Pop groups as they see them as their competitors. For American singer-songwriter Alicia Keys, giving them tribute with renditions of their songs is a way to praise their music and craft.
Alicia Keys posted on her Twitter account Wednesday her piano rendition of "Life Goes On," the newest single of K-Pop boy band BTS.
"Life Goes On" was released on November 20 with the theme of healing and love in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is among the songs in BTS' album titled "BE."
The video of Alicia Keys' piano rendition lasted less than a minute. She wrote the caption, "Can ya'll guess this??"
Introducing the song, she began saying playfully, "I bet y'all didn't think I would play this one. Tell me if you know it."
The singer-songwriter then started playing the song on her piano with a beautiful rendition, and singing the chorus. Her style of R&B, soul, pop, and hip hop as heard from many of her music like "If I Ain't Got You," "Girl on Fire," and "Empire State of Mind," is highly noticeable in her rendition of the BTS song.
As usual, the netizens and the ARMY are abuzz with this cover. @MicheBangtan on Twitter wrote, "Hearing 'Life Goes On' resonates with a singer and songwriter like Alicia Keys hits me right in my feels and I'm so happy when people love BTS's music and artistry."
"She possesses a sweet, transparent voice and brings the soul-healing moments that I love," posted @Sunn_003.
@KmmunityPH meanwhile wrote, "The crossover we didn't expect but got (heart eyes emoji). It's time to listen to Alicia Keys' short cover of 'Life Goes On'..."
The fans are hoping BTS will also collaborate with Alicia Keys. The K-Pop group already has collaborations with Hollywood singers like Halsey, Lauv, and Nicki Minaj.
