Song Joong Ki Revelation: Song Hye Kyo's Former Husband To Follow Park Shin Hye's 'The Call' On Netflix

Devoted supporters of Song Joong Ki are thrilled to see him on small screens again. Fortunately, the wait will soon be over as Netflix announced that it would release the upcoming "Space Sweepers" film exclusively.

Aside from Song Joong Ki, Jin Sun Gyu, Hae Jin Hae, and Kim Tae Ri will appear in the movie. Jo Sung Hee, who was at the helm of The Wolf Boy and Detective Hong Gil-dong: The Lost Village, will direct the forthcoming film.

Space Sweepers, set in the year 2092, is translated into 31 languages in more than 190 countries. It will center on a group of astronauts -Tae Ho (Song Joong Ki), Captain Jang (Kim Tae Ri), and Tiger Park (Jin Seon Kyu) -- who discovered Dorothy, a humanoid robot known to be a weapon of mass destruction.

"'Seungri-ho,' based on the same worldview, was produced on the premise of expanding IP to various contents such as webtoons and games, as well as series movies and spin-off video contents," Merry Christmas CEO Jung-Hoon Yoo stated.

The management explained that they decided to release the forthcoming film on Netflix due to the perils brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. It added that they could no longer delay the movie's release and thought that they could reach more audiences through the US-based online streaming giant. However, no official release date has been revealed as of this writing.

To recall, in April, Yoon Sung Hyun's Time To Hunt, which is led by Lee Je Hoon and Ahn Jae Hong, is the first Korean film to be shown on Netflix. The Call, which stars Park Shin Hye and the second Korean movie to be released on the platform, is set to premiere on Nov. 27. Song Joong Ki's Space Sweepers is likely to be the third.

Apart from Space Sweepers, Song Joong Ki will also appear in the upcoming tvN drama series called Vincenzo. Reports claimed that the former husband of Song Hye Kyo would portray Park Joo Hyeong, a lawyer who works for a Mafia, as a consigliere. His life will take a big turn after meeting another lawyer named Jeon Yeon Bin (Hong Cha Young). It is expected to premiere sometime in 2021.
